Does day trading actually work?

I mean, i see these course sellers (which are obviously rented cars etc etc) but i'd assume atleast a few of them got some decent form of money off of day trading. So does this really work?
Side question: What about brand scaling (ie; reaching out to local companies to make a website for them and run facebook ads etc etc while making graphics for it.)
