How I Research a Stock (No Guru Stuff)

My research checklist:
  • how does the company actually make money?
  • revenue + profit trend (last few years)
  • margins (are they improving or shrinking?)
  • balance sheet (debt manageable?)
  • valuation vs peers and vs history
  • biggest risks (competition, regulation, cycles)

Then I write a one-paragraph “thesis” so I don’t panic-sell on headlines.

Question: What’s the ONE metric you trust most when researching a stock?
